It is but normal to experience eye problems as we age. However, not many of us know that with a change in diet and simple daily eye exercises, we can significantly improve eyesight naturally.
I am assuming you are reading this article because you are suffering from some sort of eye problem. Or maybe you are just beginning to realize that you have to stop taking your eyes for granted and it’s about time you take action towards improving your vision. Here are some tips to get you started.
1. The right amount of sleep each day is very important if you want to improve eyesight naturally. Inadequate amount of sleep is one of the common causes of eyestrain. So make sure you get at least eight hours sleep daily.
2. Aside from lack of sleep, stress can also damage your vision overtime. Incorporate some relaxation techniques in your everyday life, like Yoga. There are Yoga exercises that focus on eye health. Do this at least twice a week to be able to improve eyesight naturally.
3. Your diet has a direct effect on your eyes. You should know which foods to avoid that contribute to vision loss. And the kinds of food you should incorporate in your daily diet to improve eyesight naturally are leafy green vegetables, carrots, liver, eggs, garlic and fruit berries. These are rich in Vitamin A, C, E and beta carotene which are the essential nutrients much needed by your eyes. And they are also known to be able to cure some forms of eye problems like cataracts and macular degeneration.
4. Omega-3s are also very important in maintaining healthy eyesight. A large portion of the fats in the eye’s retina is composed of DHA, an Omega-3 fatty acid. DHA is essential because it ensures the proper function of the eye’s photoreceptor cells and it also has the ability to combat age related vision problems. Fish like sardines, tuna and salmon are fish rich in Omega-3s.
5. An herbal compress composed of chamomile or crushed apples can do wonders in relieving your eyes from strain. We experience eyestrain every day, especially if our job entails working on the computer for long hours. Although eyestrain does not permanently damage our vision, it can certainly contribute to the degeneration of our eyesight overtime. So when you feel that you have overworked your eyes, take a 10 minute break and soothe it with an herbal compress.
6. Aside from the diet mentioned above, you should incorporate some eye exercises to improve eyesight naturally. Sometimes, we are so engrossed in our work that we hardly even blink. Blinking is a natural movement of the eyes to protect itself. Here’s one eye exercise I highly recommend – blink 20 times as fast as you can then shut your eyes tightly. Keep them closed until you feel some moisture accumulate in your eyelids. Repeat this exercise 5 times.
This kind of diet accompanied by simple eye exercises has helped thousands of people around the world improve eyesight naturally. In fact, with the right foods and regular vision exercises, some were even able to say goodbye to glasses and contacts. Surely, you can do it, too.
